Explore Vancouver’s Best Scenic Drives with a Luxury Car Rental

Vancouver’s Drives Hit Different

If you live here, you get it. If you’re visiting, you’ll figure it out fast.
Vancouver isn’t the kind of city where you stay parked. You drive, not to get somewhere, but because getting there is the thing, as long as you avoid rush hour (usually around 7-9am and 4:30-7pm on major routes)

The mountains. The ocean. That stretch of highway that hugs the cliffs past Horseshoe Bay. It’s one of the few places where renting a luxury car feels like part of the trip, not an extra.

That’s what we do at Vancouver Velocity. We match people to the kind of drive that fits the view. Whether you’re in the city for two days or two weeks, these routes turn simple travel into something better.

Sea-to-Sky Highway: Vancouver to Whistler

Locals say it’s the drive that never gets old. From the Lions Gate Bridge to Whistler, every curve gives you something new –  ocean, forests, and snow-peaked mountains all in the same frame.

Start in West Vancouver and head north onto Highway 99. Stop at Shannon Falls, get coffee in Squamish, and consider taking the Sea to Sky Gondola for the views.

If you want a relaxing ride, we recommend taking one of our Cadillac Escalades or the GMC Yukon XL. If you want more of driving experience, in the summer, take a Corvette or ask us about our Huracan rental (not currently posted on our fleet page).

In the winter, all of our SUV’s are well equipped with snow tires. The roads can get slick so safety will definitely be the priority. The views when it snows are incredible but make sure to keep an eye our for Sea to Sky Road Reports for closure or accidents during snow storms.

Stanley Park and Marine Drive

For a short, easy loop that still feels cinematic, circle Stanley Park. Start near Coal Harbour and follow the Seawall Drive. You’ll pass beaches, forest, ocean, and city all within twenty minutes.

Then take Marine Drive west through West Vancouver. The road curves above the water with houses built right into the cliffs. Every few minutes, there’s another lookout. Pull over. Breathe. You’ll see ferries crossing to Nanaimo and, if you’re lucky, seals or even orcas far off.

The Mercedes S580 makes this drive shine. Smooth, quiet, with that gentle hum that makes conversation feel better. In the summer, take our C8 convertible with the top down for an experience like no other.

Cypress Mountain Viewpoint

Only thirty minutes from downtown, Cypress gives you a postcard of the city from above. Most people go for the ski hill, but the drive up is the real prize.

Twisting roads through deep green forest open up to a lookout with the city, the islands, and even Mount Baker if the air’s clear.

It’s the kind of drive that’s fun in something powerful,  maybe a Corvette C8 or Mercedes AMG G63. Just take it slow near the turns; people love to stop right in the lane to take photos but there’s a main view point where it’s safe to pull over and get a photo with the Vancouver skyline in the backdrop.

Bring snacks, a hoodie, and patience. Sunset crowds up can get busy.

White Rock and Crescent Beach

When you want something calmer, head south. White Rock’s Marine Drive runs right along the beach –  pastel skies, cafes, and an old wooden pier.

A Rolls Royce Cullinan feels right for this one. Quiet luxury, lots of glass, easy to just roll down the windows and let the sea air in.

Stop at a patio for seafood or ice cream, walk the pier, and drive back while it’s still golden out. It’s not about distance; it’s about how it feels.

Mount Seymour and Deep Cove

Head east through North Vancouver and start climbing. The road to Mount Seymour winds through cedar forest until you hit the viewpoint halfway up. You’ll see Indian Arm stretching into the mountains,  it doesn’t even look real sometimes.

On the way down, stop in Deep Cove for coffee and a donut at Honey’s (a local favourite). Sit by the water, maybe rent a kayak if you feel like it.

This one’s for people who like a little bit of everything: good food, quiet views, and zero crowds. SUVs like the Yukon XL or Escalade are perfect here – smooth enough for mountain roads, big enough for everyone’s bags and snacks.

A visitor from Toronto once told us he booked a GMC Yukon thinking it’d just be “something nice for the week.” He ended up driving every day – Stanley Park one morning, Squamish the next, Cypress the day after. When he returned the keys, he said it felt like the car gave him permission to wander.

Getting Around the City

Traffic downtown isn’t as bad as people say. It’s just tight. Streets like Georgia or Burrard move slow, but the views help.

Most parkades take credit card tap and run 24 hours. Gastown, Yaletown, and Coal Harbour have safe options. If you’re renting from us, we can tell you where to park near your hotel without spending half your budget on overnight rates.

And yes, we deliver anywhere:  airport, hotel, even straight to your Airbnb driveway.

Why a Luxury Car Makes the Drive Better

Sure, you can rent anything with four wheels. But Vancouver’s scenery deserves more. A clean interior, smooth ride, and quiet cabin make every mile feel different.

You’re not racing. You’re gliding.

Luxury cars also make longer drives like Whistler or the Okanagan easier. Heated seats, adaptive cruise, premium audio –  they take the edge off traffic and give you a sense that the journey actually matters.
