You probably had one. A poster taped above the bed, a screensaver, a die-cast model on the shelf that nobody else was allowed to touch. Some low, wide car you figured you’d never get near. Here’s the thing about exotic car rental in Vancouver: getting your hands on the real one for a day is a lot less far-fetched than ten-year-old you would have guessed.
It’s also more fun than a test drive with a salesperson in the passenger seat. Below is what we tell people on the phone every week. What actually makes a car exotic, what driving one around here feels like, and the questions to ask before you hand anyone a deposit.
What makes it exotic, and not only expensive
A luxury car makes your day easier. An exotic one makes it more interesting, and sometimes a bit harder. You get a big engine, sharp styling, seats close to the road and an exhaust note people hear from down the block. The trade is practicality for theatre, and you should go in knowing that.
If comfort is all you’re after, honestly, book a sedan like our Mercedes S580 and enjoy the quiet. If you want a story you’ll still be telling at dinner in ten years, keep reading.
Who books an exotic car rental in Vancouver?
Fewer millionaires than you’d think. Mostly it’s people crossing something off a list: a 40th birthday, a proposal that needs the right entrance, newlyweds who want a dramatic exit and some good photos. Photographers and content creators book them because the car is the star of the shoot. And a lot of car people simply want to know how a big V8 feels near the top of the rev range before they spend real money on one.
Plenty of them are a little nervous about the fine print. That’s normal, and we’ll get to it below. If you want to see what we have right now, our exotic car rental page lists it.
Vancouver is not a racetrack (and that’s fine)
Let’s be honest about this city. There’s traffic on every bridge, cyclists everywhere, school zones, and speed limits that do get enforced. Nowhere in town lets a supercar stretch its legs on a Tuesday afternoon. Don’t try.
Good news, though. These cars are a blast at 50 km/h. You feel the grip in every corner, you hear the exhaust bounce off the towers on West Hastings, and the people beside you at the light lean over for a better look.
Our favourite times to go: sunrise on a weekday, heading up Highway 99 toward Squamish while Howe Sound turns pink on your left. A slow loop past Coal Harbour after dinner. A Sunday run out to Deep Cove for coffee, where somebody will always wander over to ask about the car.
Rain, snow and very low bumpers
Weather is the plot twist here. Low cars don’t get along with steep parkade ramps. They also hate speed bumps, tall curbs and those giant puddles that show up on Main Street every November. Summer and early fall are the sweet spot.
Winter takes more planning. Winter tires are required on Highway 99 between October 1 and March 31, and low performance cars aren’t built for snow on the way to Whistler. Set on a mountain trip in those months? Tell us your route before you fall for one particular car. The Lamborghini Urus has all-wheel drive and copes well with wet roads, so it’s usually the one we’d suggest, and we approve Whistler trips when you book.
The fine print matters more with exotic car rentals
Everything about renting a nice car counts double when the car is worth more than a lot of people’s first condo. Wherever you rent, ask about these:
- Age. Minimums are often higher for exotics. Ours is 21 for most of the fleet and 25 for the Lamborghini Urus.
- The deposit, and when it comes back. We hold a refundable damage deposit.
- Insurance. A lot of credit card coverage leaves out high-value cars, so check yours first. With us you need your own driving insurance, and extra protection options are available if you want more cover.
- Distance. Ask whether there’s a daily kilometre limit and plan the route around the answer.
- Wheels and front lips. Get clear on how curb scrapes are handled before you drive away.
- Who else can drive. Usually only the people named on the booking are covered.
None of this should scare you off. A decent company answers every one of those without sighing.
Learn the car before the car learns you
Exotics don’t drive like your daily. The throttle is sharp, the brakes bite hard and the steering wants a light touch. Ask for a proper handover: which drive mode does what, how the gearbox behaves in stop-and-go, and anything special about ramps. Then spend five minutes on a quiet side street in Yaletown or Kits before you go anywhere near the highway. Rear visibility is often poor. Trust the cameras, and your passenger.
People will stare. Plan for it.
Pull up anywhere and somebody will film you. Some drivers love that, while others find it tiring after the first hour, so figure out which one you are before you book.
Use valet or a secure parkade. Keep the cabin empty. Add ten minutes to every stop, because someone always wants to talk about the car.
How to book without the stress
Summer weekends and long weekends go first, so reserve early. When you call, give us the full picture: the occasion, the route, how many days, and whether a photographer is coming along. Ask where the handover happens and what the plan is if the weather turns. Flying in? Delivery to YVR is free, and our airport delivery page explains how the meet-up works. If you’re comparing companies, have each one walk you through the deposit and insurance out loud. The clear answers usually come from the good ones.
So, is a Vancouver exotic car rental worth it?
For a day or a weekend, we think so. You won’t carry much luggage. Gas stops come around sooner than you’d like. But you’ll get a few hours that people remember for years, which is the whole point.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does an exotic car rental in Vancouver cost?
It depends on the car. Our Lamborghini Urus is $1,900 a day and the Rolls-Royce Cullinan is $2,900 a day, and both come with a refundable damage deposit. Wherever you book, ask for a written quote with the daily rate, taxes, deposit and any limits on it, so you’re comparing real totals and not just the headline number.
What do I need to rent an exotic car in Vancouver?
With us, you need to be 21 or older (25 for the Urus), hold a valid driver’s licence and have your own driving insurance in place. Expect a refundable damage deposit too. Visiting from another country? Give us a call before you land and we’ll go over what to bring.
Is an exotic car rental worth it for just one day?
For a milestone birthday, a proposal or a photo shoot, yes. One day is enough for a great route and a camera roll full of pictures. Want Squamish one day and Whistler the next? Book two.
Can I take an exotic car to Whistler?
Often, yes, especially in summer and early fall when the Sea-to-Sky is dry. We need to approve the trip at booking. From October 1 to March 31 winter tires are required on Highway 99, so tell us your route and we’ll be straight with you about what’s realistic.
Is insurance included with a Vancouver exotic car rental?
No. You need your own driving insurance, and we offer extra protection options on top if you’d like more cover. Many credit card policies skip high-value vehicles, so call your card company before assuming you’re covered.
How far ahead should I book?
As early as you can for summer, holidays and weekends, when the popular cars go first. Quiet weekdays are more flexible. A quick call to check never hurts.
