Here’s our best tip if you’re working out how to rent a car in Vancouver: don’t go to the car. Have it come to you. With Vancouver Velocity there’s no counter and no stack of forms. We bring the keys to wherever you are, whether that’s YVR arrivals, a hotel downtown or your place in Yaletown, Kitsilano or out by UBC.

This city is made for people who like a view while they drive. Mountains on one side, ocean on the other, and neighbourhoods like Gastown and Coal Harbour that make even a ten-minute errand feel like an outing. We deliver. You drive. That’s about it.

Steps to rent a car in Vancouver with us

Here’s how it usually goes:

  1. Pick the car you want from our fleet.
  2. Send us your dates and where you’d like it delivered, online or by phone.
  3. We check it’s free and send you the total.
  4. Confirm, and sort out your licence, insurance and deposit details.
  5. We meet you with the car at the time and place you chose.

Booking ahead helps a lot, especially for weekends and holidays.

Luxury car rentals in Vancouver: what people book most

Some people rent a car to get from A to B. Others rent one because they want the drive itself to be the good part. If you’re in the second group, these are the cars we’d point you to first:

  • Mercedes-AMG G63: $750/day. A Vancouver favourite in any season, with a hand-built V8 and real four-by-four hardware for winter.
  • Lamborghini Urus: $1,900/day. Supercar pace with SUV comfort, and room for four friends. Drivers must be 25 or older.
  • Chevrolet Corvette C8: $550/day. Black, mid-engine, great sound. Pop the roof panel out on a sunny day.
  • Mercedes-AMG C63 S: $350/day. Our lowest performance rate, quick and comfortable for a weekend in the city.
  • Dodge Charger Hellcat: $600 a day, more than 700 horsepower and four doors. Please be gentle with it in the rain.

Have a look at all of them on the exotic car rental page, or check the full fleet for SUVs and sedans.

Requirements, insurance and the rules of the road

The requirements are short. Be 21 or over (25 for the Urus), bring a valid licence and have your own driving insurance in place. If you’d like more cover, we offer extra protection options when you book. There’s a refundable damage deposit too.

Driving here isn’t hard. Parking is the part that tests your patience. Street spots near Robson and in Gastown go fast, so use a parkade when you can.

Watch your speed. Unless a sign says otherwise, it’s 50 km/h in the city, and most highways around Metro Vancouver sit somewhere between 80 and 100. And the rain shows up out of nowhere, so leave more room than you think you need.

How to book for busy seasons and big events

Coming in summer? Book early. Vancouver gets packed during the Celebration of Light fireworks, the PNE and every big concert weekend, and the more unusual cars go first.

Winter has its own rush. Ski weekends fill up, and if you’re heading up Highway 99, winter tires are required on the Sea-to-Sky from October 1 into the spring. Trips to Whistler need our approval at booking, so tell us your route and we’ll confirm the car is set up for it.

We’ve set cars up for weddings, photo shoots and corporate visits, and the advice is always the same. The earlier you send us your dates, the more choice you get.

Tips for getting the most out of a Vancouver car rental

  • If you want something rare, book early.
  • Let us deliver. It saves you a cab ride and a lot of time.
  • Fridays after about 3 p.m., the bridges clog. Plan around them.
  • Wet corners plus a powerful rear-wheel-drive car means easy on the throttle.
  • Flying in? Have us bring it to the airport. YVR delivery is free.

We keep it simple: one contact, one message thread and one car waiting where you asked for it.
